When I started out as an interior designer the number one mistake I often made was assuming I already knew what my client wanted! The reality was that more often than not I was unknowingly forcing my personal biases on them…’ trust me…this pink would go very well with your bathtub !’
One of the things I developed thereafter to manage my bias and help me understand my client base better was a customized colour psychology test. Simply put, a client would fill out for me a set of multiple questions about their personality and that in turn would help me determine the best colour and scheming for them. Sometimes a customer also doesn’t precisely know what they want as well, see?
